Canaan Company started in a small workshop in Vermont, where our founder couldn’t stop thinking about why most pillows feel wrong after just a few months. We’re not another bedding company trying to sell you on thread counts or fancy materials you can’t pronounce. We make pillows that actually last, support your head the way it needs supporting, and don’t require a small mortgage to afford.
Every Canaan pillow starts with a simple question: what would we want to sleep on for the next five years? That means no shortcuts on fill quality, no flimsy shells that leak feathers after a few washes, and definitely no marketing gimmicks disguised as innovation. We source our materials from suppliers who’ve been doing this longer than we have, test every batch ourselves, and stand behind each pillow with a warranty that actually means something. Our workshop team — all twelve of us — personally use what we make. If we wouldn’t give it to our pickiest relatives, it doesn’t leave our doors.
The name comes from the ancient promise of a land of rest and abundance — maybe a bit lofty for a pillow company, but we figured good sleep is its own kind of promised land. We’re based in the same converted textile mill where we started, though we’ve expanded from one room to three.
